How does irena support countries to implement quality assurance for renewables?
To support countries in the development of quality control and standards, IRENA works in close cooperation with key expert partners, such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the German Metrology Institute (PTB), the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Likewise, a number of international associations such as Solar Power Europe, the Global Solar Council and the World Wind Energy Association have collaborated with IRENA in different efforts to expand quality assurance for renewable energy.
IRENA does not act as a standardisation, certification or accreditation body. The Agency's efforts in this field are focused on enabling a communication bridge between all stakeholders involved in quality assurance and renewable energy fields, particularly between policy-makers, industry and quality infrastructure institutions.
