Get involved in quality for renewable energy
How does irena support countries to implement quality assurance for renewables?
To support countries in the development of quality control and standards, IRENA works in close cooperation with key expert partners, such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the German Metrology Institute (PTB), the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Likewise, a number of international associations such as Solar Power Europe, the Global Solar Council and the World Wind Energy Association have collaborated with IRENA in different efforts to expand quality assurance for renewable energy.
IRENA does not act as a standardisation, certification or accreditation body. The Agency's efforts in this field are focused on enabling a communication bridge between all stakeholders involved in quality assurance and renewable energy fields, particularly between policy-makers, industry and quality infrastructure institutions. In this context, IRENA facilitates workshops to assist in the development of quality assurance and standardisation, previous events include:
- Regional Forum on PV Standards and Conformity Assessment in Latin America
- Green Quality Dialogue, Germany
- Planning and Technical Standards for China's Renewables Workshop
- Forum on Quality Assurance Schemes for Solar Water Heating in Latin America and the Caribbean

HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT RENEWABLE ENERGY QUALITY ASSURANCE?
Get involved: participate in a quality infrastructure event as a host or partner, different events include workshops, conferences and consultative meetings.
Share your experience: write us an email and share best known methods, study cases and success stories taking place in your country. By disseminating this information, it is possible to promote benchmarking practices across countries.
Continue to act: understand the current situation of the quality infrastructure in your country, what are the needs and required resources to build on it.
